Does anything work for removing polyurethane glue that has dried on surface of wood ? Mineral spirits works fine when glue is still wet but not so well after it has dried. The wood is prefinished BC.

Bostiks makes baby wipes for removing it. Dritac makes a cleaner as well. Xylene will cut it, but it is a pretty aggressive solvent. Be careful.

When installing, keep a mineral spirit soaked rag on a piece of cardboard near by. Any time you feel that sticky stuff on your fingers or palms, wipe down your hands and any boards you just touched.

The following morning when pulling tape, take little pieces of tape and mark your smudges, you miss the day before, when installing. Once all the blue tape is pulled off the installation, get the light reflection on the floor to find all the smudges and wipe them off with mineral spirits and then buff with a dry towel, also removing any tape residue.

Bostick's has come out with an adhesive remover in a liquid form and it is not solvent based. I tried it on a customer's floor and it worked great! I was impressed. I may even go back to using urethane adhesives again!
