Hi guys.
I have an 'interesting" customer that wants to pay me to sand her stair case but also wants the risers sanded clean and re painted. I was wondering what you guys have that can do the job efficiently and maybe even hook up to a vacuum. I think I saw someone here who bought a dewalt grinder of some sort ?

Paul, incredibily as it sounds, some of those ROS's are like 500 bucks.

Thanks for the link. I did see that tool. I actually own a festool 5 inch dual mode sander and I kind of hate it. The power cord makes a very weak twist connection to the sander and that's not cool for 4 hundred bucks. Plus, with a vacuum attached , it bounces really bad. My 60 dollar dewalt works much better as a random orbital.

My festool sander connection has degraded to where it's hard to keep it running. Was it you that bought the dewalt grinder with dust shroud ?

Yea I bought the 4 hp grinder. I was looking at ros's today on Amazon. Totally different than the grinder I bought. I think it is was to much for wood. I am torn between the Bosch and the DeWalt. Both of those are discounted to like 80 to 100 bucks

Well, the dust collection capability of my Festool is nice but for the money,I'd buy something else .I ended up using the festool today but really did most of the paint removal with a hard carbide scraper. I hand scraped 14 risers almost completely clean in 45 minutes. The festool mostly cleaned up the wood after .

Turned out to be all chestnut. It's a shame it was ever painted and abused .
