Recently have installed a Real Wood Floor and packs of wood were sellotaped together..

Manufacturer assured me this was standard and the selloptape can be removed.

However upon completion, the tape and sticky residue was removed, but in some areas a "shine or sheen" is left and I cannot seem to remove it! It is almost like the sellotape has melted into the Wood...

Manufacturer is now recommending complete removal and re-installation.

Can anyone advise if it is possible to remove the shine without throwing away the floor?!

Please help!

I would think they would tell you to remove and install the damaged boards, BUT......... they may have a finish problem.

If there is a finish problem, it may be easier to screen and recoat or sand and re-finish rather than remove the entire floor.

What say you Gary?

It sounds as if the manufacturer is recommending total floor replacement. It maybe they know something about this particular batch that we don't. To be on the safe side, I'd follow the manufacturer's recommendation IF they are picking up the tab. Of course, one could attempt a finish repair. It could involve just a few of the effected boards or a full re-coat, as Ray mentioned. If the flooring was factory hand scraped, refinishing and re-coating may not be possible.
