I've recently had engineered floors installed, I've noticed that there
are fingerprints, smudges and white film-like stains all over the place. The installer has denied doing it and I can't imagine what I've used on my floors that may have caused these stains. I'm trying to have some info for the mediator when the come to inspect and try to resolve the case.

any info would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

thanks all.

If this engineered floor was glued down using urethane adhesive, it may very well be urethane adhesive residue and damage from trying to clean it off after it dried.

But that is only speculation, while I'm sitting behind this monitor. I'd have to see it to know for sure.

what do you use to maintain the floor?
How long after installation did these become visible?
I'm assuming this is pre-finished?
Are you seeing white and finger prints in Reflective light?

yep, i am seeing it with reflective light from my windows. I think they
used Sikabond T52. These are pre-finished jatoba floors from Satin-Finish. I've tried rubbing acohol, paint thinner, and varsol in hidden
areas . I Noticed it after they came to repair some sunken areas. I also noticed an area of whitish filme where it looks like it was wiped with a cloth( kinda of like when you wipe grease)all i use for my floors is microfibre cloth which works wonders for dust. So what your saying floorguy is that adhesive will stain if you dont wipe it off immediately?

thanks all

Sounds like adhesive residues... Pretty tough to remove.
