Hi,

I get e-mails from an outfit that sells solid HW 3/8" thick, T&G up to 5" wide. It is available quatersawn but regardless it seems that this product would end up looking like a potato chip if the humidity was not kept virtually constant.

Would any pro here install this?

I suspect perhaps they are trying to market to the cost conscious.

I'll install virtually anything.

I think the QS would be much more stable. But in all reality 3/8 and 5/16 is pretty common. If well maintained it should last a long time.

My husband and I own a remodeling business, and often deal with floors. I usually just help with the finish, but yes, we install just about anything as well. Unless you are living in Indonesia (where it's like 93 degrees and 90% humidity all the time, and they don't have windows and doors) you shouldn't have problems, especially if the finish is good.

If your planning on nailing that product, (in a 5" width)..I would glue as well.

Mind you it would take years of that humidity to affect it negatively.
