My house was built in 1935. I do not have a sub-floor! What can I do to stop the squeeking. My wife had me remove the carpet and now I need to refinish the floors, ANY assistance will be apprciated.

If you can get at it from underneath, some stratigically placed screws will do the trick.

Finishing screws from the top and color filled, if you have to come at it from the top.
