are straps or tape (3m blue) necessary for a glue-together floating installation? and if so, which is preferable?

an installer i spoke to recommended straps.

manufacturer specified "taping each board together at side and end seams".

unless i overlooked it, the diy article on the site doesn't specify using anything.

any recommendations?

Either/or. Straps cost big bucks, Tape is cheap. I use both.

My experience is with floating laminate glue-together in my kitchen, but It shouldn't be that different for you. The manufacturer didn't specify any tape or straps, but I was having a devil of a time tapping in a new board without introducing a gap in a prior installed board.

I finally ended up renting some Pergo straps from Home Depot, and that really did the trick. I could give it just the right amount of tension to draw all the boards together nice & tight.
