Hello All, joined a few weeks ago and have found some great info. This is my first post and sorry if this has been addressed previously, but I couldn't find anything that talked about this.

We are finishing our entire house with hickory hardwood throughout. Finished the first room a couple weeks back and all went fairly well. Moving on to the next room we found the subfloor to have a few spots which are very soft and squishy. The video below hopefully shows what I'm referring to so you get the idea. It is not much, but it is more than anything we saw in the first room. The basement is unfinished and accessible. I don't see anything in the area below that would be of concern, all is very solid.

Is this something that should be addressed before I install the hardwood? It will be installed parallel with the seam I'm standing in front of and just not sure how this could impact the install. Appreciate any input you may have.

Thanks - Lance

I would definitely put more screws in that area to keep those panels secure and free from noise. You may need to edge/sand the seam afterwards if that creates a hump or peak at the joint. You want a flat and stable subfloor, though flatness is most important - loose panels usually lead to squeaks and creaks, and some people are more picky about the noise than others.

Thanks for the input. The additional screws have resolved the issue and the floor no longer seems soft like it did.
