Some great suggestions guys, certainly opens up some options. Gary, you are right on with T-molds being WAY TOO BIG. That is exactly what I want to avoid. Some seem like overkill for for such a narrow gap.

Ken, I think you picked up on something that I totally missed. I may in fact not be getting the greenwood product I referred to. Originally we had chosen greenwood engineered. However, the wife said she liked the color of different sample in the same rack. I assumed that everything in the rack was greenwood and looking on the web, the product I mentioned fit the description :? . Our reciept says "Roane flooring". After visiting their website, it seems confirmed that we have purchased a product made by "Bambo". I don't think I was tricked, but rather I made an idiot assumption. So does anyone have any knowledge of "Bambo"? I can't find much on the net. I assume since the product has been ordered it's too late to change my mind.

Good call Ken, hopefully the Bambo is a decent product as well.

You know, at my distributors, I can get a small T-mold in unfinished maple (looks alot like bamboo). I think it's total width is 1&1/2" to 2". This is pretty small looking in comparison to some I've seen and if installed nicely, would look good. I understand not wanting a huge clunky looking molding but there are other molding choices; and the one I just gave you would look good! Trims around hearths are customary and done in some way or another. Consider this; What would you do IF your hearth was full bricks? A small maple T-mold would look good. Get one and see for yourself!

If I can get this image to work, here is an example of the smaller T-mold on a Kahrs Woodloc & porcelain tile job I installed recently. I don't like T-molds either but you do what you have to do sometimes.

You sure did mess things up Jerry. Nice photo! It's fixed now. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I hope everything works out for you. First time I've heard of "bambo"
