Hi!

Please tell me, in your experience and opinion, what is the absolutely BEST engineered flooring available (for radiant heat - WarmBoard)

OR is Carlisle (Wide Plank) an equally good or better option?

Carlisle's website sure talks up a storm about being able to put a solid wood over radiant with ZERO problems because they use old growth trees that are 100-150 years old, use center cut only and air dry for a min of 8 months (the kiln dry).

-40 years of experience over radiant heat and they say that 95% of their radiant customers DO NO do engineered.

So Carlisle or engineered and it engineered, which brand is BEST? I do not lie the BR-111 choices...

THANKS!

I am not an ex-pert on radiant heat and hardwood but I would trust Carlisle over Br-111 any day of the week. That said it is my own opinion that hardwood over radiant heat is just not a normal, natural, and forgiving system for wood period. All we ever hear about is problems with wood shrinking and swelling in normal living conditions, and now people want to stick a heater under it, then turn it off when the hot humid season comes. Whats going to happen?

Man you have to give to Carslie for the effort. They make an outstanding product but there is others out there that do just as well for a lot less. I dont care if you used wood that was 500 years old it is still going to move if the conditions are correct. id be willing to bet if Carlise warrants their floors over radiant there is still a disclaimer a mile long and if you stick to their warranty requirements you probably would have the same success with many floors. Its just human nature if you pay a arm and a leg for something you are more likely to take proper care of it.

No se habla English....just told that to a phone solicitor. lol

Anyway, look at getting some mesquite. Key to it is the woods natural ability to move, shrink and swell coefficient.
