We are replacing some flooring on a cement slab (water-damaged, floating install, solid bamboo mess), and are considering Armstrong Midtown Maple. I have scoured the internet for reviews and can only find press releases and marketing messages extolling its virtues... Eco-Certified composite HDF provides enhanced impact resistance superior to traditional solid or engineered wood flooring, highest moisture resistance possible in a genuine wood floor, etc. The thought of HDF makes me cringe, but they make it sound so darn good...

Do any of you have experience with Armstrong Midtown products? What are your opinions on it? Thanks so much!

Go to a showroom and bring a hammer. Ask for a sample and smack it really hard. And do it in front of the salesperson just for effect.

And then if it passes your impact test, bring it home and drop it into a bucket of water for about 20 seconds. Then take it out, wipe it off, and leave it on the counter for a few days to see if it delaminates.

I've installed Armstrongs and Shaws HDF core wood flooring without any issues. Never have done the water test, I think I have a piece here so sounds like fun.
