My DH and I are buying a home and the White Oak floors need refinishing. I have a few questions, once we sand and stain, must we use a poly? Is it possible to just use Tung Oil or something else less labor intensive? If so, how long will it last?

Thanks for any and all advice!

I do belive that their is tung oils that are for floors. However, I have never used the,. You may consider Rubio Monocoat. IT is a one step plant based oil that goes on really easily and is pretty forgibving for someone with not much experience with finishing floors. They even have different colors. You would not want to use this in combination with a stain.

use waterbase polyurathane than oil based .... its less maintenance than oil based... using water base polyurathane its last
for long ... while having oil base need re application every year or two as maintenance.( use bona kemi product. they have dry fast stain, that compatible to their water base product......)it easy to apply.....
