Hello ! New at this ; so here goes ! I have 3/8 Mannington engineered flooring ; I purchased 1 1/2" cleat nails. Will they be adequate ? If not; what type of fastener should I use ? The gun I purchased is a FREEMAN PFBC 940. It will accept 5/8 to 1 5/8 nails. I would rather not use staples . Thanks for your help ! VIC

Mannington specifies staples.

Thanks for your prompt reply ; I do know what Manninton suggests for fasteners ; but ; after reading the info. in : "Hardwood Installer Classic" ; they oppose the use of staples on 3/8 engineered flooring . What I really need to know is; will 1 1/2" cleat nails work adequately ? Thanks again VIC

Where did you see that mentioned? Sometimes my big fingers are capable of typos, or it could be my error. Also I believe Mannington recommends their own proprietary system in the Spotnails Floor Monster 18 gauge 1 3/8" length staple.
