Is this a decent underlayment for 5” solid hard wood?

The specs sound good. However, 6 mil plastic/visqueen has never been a good choice as it can trap moisture from below. Can result in subfloor degradation or rotting over time.

So what’s best underlayment to use? I’m installing 5” prefinished oak. Thanks

Best? I never thought of it that way during my active days of installing, Then it was standard #15 roofing paper (5 cents/ SF) of Aquabar B. Why are you looking at something that runs at 75 cents per square foot? Keep it simple and move on.

Well IMO that’s a narrow minded way of thinking.
