Looks great! Pretty wood! BTW, the winders for landings are illegal in CA.

Winders illegal in California?? For how long? I did a set less then 6 months ago in a new home. Maybe because we're up here in the snow, they figure our footing is a bit more secure, so we get to use them. :)

In CA the winders have to be wider on the inside. Like 7 or 8 inches.

My dad was a stair estimator when I was growing up in CA :)

Thanks. All I know is no one does them here in the bay area anymore, even when they seemed to be a good solution. It has to do with the one side getting so small that you cannot step on it. I'm only guessing it has to do with safety and I think they want a stair case that two people can go up and down at the same time to allow for faster exit in a fire. But what about spiral stairs? Those are nothing but winders. I'm thinking you must have another staircase besides the spiral stairs only, either inside or outside but this is just an assuption.
here's some links for those interested.
