Hey,
I'm a very analytical person and finding flooring (eng hardwood) has been a real struggle for me. All of the high end and low end stores and sales pitches. Bringing home giant flooring samples. Just a lot to think about and the pricing and information is so scattered. Everyone says "Call for pricing"!... car sales tactics in my opinion. In any case, we're looking at the following brands, and wanted to see if we needed to steer clear of any of them.

- D&M Flooring Modern Craftsman Collection Studio Line ($)
- Mullican Castillian Cottage Series European White Oak Blakemore ($)
- Oregon Lumber CO Bellagio Collection Riviera in Monaco ($$)
- Reward Flooring Islands Collection European Oak ($$)
- Mission Collection Verona Casal European Oak ($$)
- Urbanfloor Amarone ($$$)
- Hallmark Novella ($$$)

I can tell the biggest difference is that the more expensive ones tend to have more wear layer (varies 1.5-4mm in my price range), more width (5-7.5), and longer length. But what I really am wondering about is the quality workable and are these going to last. Is 1.5mm enough wear layer? I don't think we plan on resurfacing, maybe once, but who knows. Thanks for all your help. I wish this was all super transparent and easy to get this info!

The most important thing about pre-finished flooring is the color and surface. If you will take care of it, it ought to last a long time before another coat of finish is applied to areas that show wear, if you have an easy care surface. A wear resistant film finish is easiest to care for.

Those are all nice manufacturers.
I like hallmark as they seem to ship more longer lenghts in a box and less shorts.

"Car sales tactics"

I know where you're coming from Jesse.

You refer to perhaps one refinishing. You will need at least 3mm as the wear layer/veneer. What so many people are ignorant of is getting past the bevels or micro bevels during a refinish procedure.

All products are different as you well know. When refinishing any micro beveled floor it has to be taken out, unless you have a perfectly flat subfloor to begin with and a highly skilled pro that can handle the task.

One of my YT videos on the subject. I had fun creating these videos with a spokesperson named "Jigsaw" a brindle boxer.
