IMO, you can either go natural and even semi dark stain. Those flecks and rays will still show. But I would use a solvent based sealer if you're considering a waterbased floor finish.

Thanks Gary, You probably already know but just in case, we decided on going natural. The Swedish Finish that was used was from Precision Technology SF-750 which is their Semi-Gloss. I guess Pretecch or something like that is their website. Have you ever used their stuff? It looks quite good and with only two coats too!
