OK,

So I buy online from The Discount Flooring Co. 1550 Feet of Rift and Quatered Charater Grade White Oak Flooring. I also bought stair treads and risers.

The treads and risers are nice no prblems but the flooring that was Milled at Middle TN. Lumber Co. Walking Horse Brand was Milled so bad the installer walked off the job after installing only 330 Sq. Feet of the floor. He stated that the floor was milled so bad He didn't want his name on it. I looked at the flooring material It did have some issues Grove not milled Tongue missing cracks on top of the boards etc.

I did get the opinion of 3 other flooring contractors and they were in agreement the material was bad warped boards mis-milled etc.

So now I have 330 Sq. Feet of floor laid and i'm shipping back the remainder I still have back to the Mill but what a pain does anyone else ever have this issue? I was laying 3" 4" and 5" radom width pattern.

I'm thinking about buying replacement flooring from GRAF Flooring in Ohio any feedback on their product?

Character grade is what is remaining after the other grades are removed during the grading process. It may have been a great buy according to square foot price.
This grade of flooring takes a lot longer to lay because the culling necessary to get a serviceable floor. It will take more skill and patience to salvage defective boards after they are laid.
You should have seen a sample in person before your ordered the material.
It may be that you prefer number two and better grade. Even then, you will need to find a floor layer who is experienced enough to grade bad pieces.

Character grade is suppose to have mine rial streaks and closed knots..

This floor is warped and the tongue and groves don't line up..

I'm also finding a lot of surface cracks and I had a whole bundle with the grove half cut.. Very disappointed in the QC at this mill..

The other name for it is Tavern Grade. Because in a tavern setting they know its going to get beat to heck so they get the bottom of the barrel grade.

I will always run away from tavern grade. It's junk and should be sold as junk.
