We're looking to put Hickory in our kitchen and I'm having a hard time figuring out which brands are not crap - I mean I know there could be some unusable pieces in a box but I'd like to have more good than bad!

We started looking at lumber liquidators. I've read tons of mixed reviews on the Internet - mostly bad - although none specific for the store I went to. Is their Bellawood really safe?

We have a carpet one near us and they have so many brands I'm utterly confused.

BTW we are installing ourselves (my cousin is a carpenter).

Some of the quality brands of prefinished flooring are; Mirage & BR-111, although I am not sure if they have hickory. Bellawood is descent stuff. I have installed tons of it and I really don't have any complaints. If you are planning to install the wood yourself Carpet one is probably going to be priced higher than a lot of other places. BR-111 sells to the public online.
