In a thread under here I noticed someone saying to "go with a naturally stable solid hardwood," if you live in an area with big shifts in humidity. How do I know what is a naturally stable hardwood?

Id say width is just as important. ID recommend a good ol 21/4 qtr sawn white oak for maximum stability.

What does 24/4, refer to? 4 inches wide by ?

And I'm confused by the "sawn" part. Could you elaborate.

Thanks!
