I'm a first time DIYer about to install 3/4" X 3" Bruce HW floors. I've read multiple times that I need to use a moisture meter to insure that the subfloor and HW floors are within 4% moisture.

I called Home Depot's tool rental department and they don't carry this tool. Check online and they are pricey.. over $150.... EXCEPT for this cheap Harbor Freight one for $25.

I'm sure it's junk (the HF CEN-TEC) but what are my alternatives? Do I have a choice other then shelling out $150 for a tool I will only use once?

What have you other DIY'ers done?

Thanks..
denisl

You can get a used lignomat mini-ligno for $50 on ebay. It is perfect for this application.
